Casually Addicted’s 2012 PC Game Of The Year

There is no doubt that 2012 has been the year of the PC, with a huge lineup of games and just some next level performances from certain games.

PC gaming is headed in the right direction at the moment and I am sure 2012 has got a lot of people questioning weather they should jump on board, but let us honor those games that gave us hours of entertainment in 2012.

This year we did have a lot of PC exclusive games but not all of them held up to the test of time, there were also a lot of fun betas but we will not include them until they are fully released.

The first game we have is Mass Effect 3 which is a strong nominee as everyone would expect, finishing the trilogy here was what everyone has been waiting for, its a shame they just fell short at the end.

There is one game that has just shown you don’t need a AAA budget to make a great game and that is The Walking Dead: The Game Season 1. This game will pull at your heart strings and lead players to develop strong relationships for characters and truly invest themselves in the story.

One of the MMO’s that was launched last year was Guild Wars 2 which is a strong contender for the best PC game of 2012.

Guild WarS 2 steps away from the conformity of having to pay monthly subscriptions, instead you pay the one off game fee and then you can play online free of charge forever. There is such a vast amount of content in this game with a rich lore for all the characters and races, anyone would be satisfied with this game.

Possibly the biggest surprise of the year was X-COM: Enemy Unknown. I used to be a huge fan of the series but we haven’t see one of these games in years.

XCOM delivers on every level though, the same structure to the game still exists but with a revamped look, new layout and new content. Old players will feel very familiar here and new players will have a blast exploring this game.

Finally we have Far Cry 3 which came out of no where sneaking its way in at the last minute. With one of the most imaginative worlds I have ever played in, players will find themselves exploring this vast and beautiful island with some crazy things to be found around ever corner.
